Building your own business can sometimes be a bit overwhelming. It's not always easy, and that can make it hard to stay focused and be productive.
Some days it's no problem to be laser focused on working your business, and then there are those days (usually when you're not getting the results you want) when everything just feels so hard and heavy.
Which platform to focus on? What to post about? How to word that post? How to find new prospects to talk to? What to say to a prospect? How to make more sales?
If you ever have one of those days when you just can't seem to get it together, here's my personal 3-step process that I use when I'm feeling really stuck.
Step 1 ...
Take a few minutes, close your eyes and just breathe. Take a few deep breaths and slowly exhale. Deep breathing will lower your stress level as it increases the supply of oxygen to your brain and creates a state of calmness.
Step 2 ...
Set an intention for the day. I actually do this every morning and it's very powerful. If I need to write an email, my intention is usually something like "motivate and inspire". Other intentions I use are "relaxed and in flow" or "calm and organized". Then throughout the day, I lean on that intention to keep moving forward with what I need to get done.
Step 3 ...
Start with just one thing. If you know me at all, I'm all about one thing because you can only do one thing at a time! Don't focus on that list you have of 10 things that need to get done, just pick one and start there. If it's a larger project you're working on, then just focus on one piece of it that will get the project moving forward.
There's going to be days when you just can't even! You try to calm down, focus on one thing but still, you just can't! On those days, you need to give yourself permission to just step back and regroup. And that's ok! Maybe you need to take an hour and focus on something completely different than your business. Maybe you need a whole day? Whatever it is, take that time and let go of any feelings of guilt because that will just defeat the whole purpose.
I hope this little process will help you on those days when overwhelm gets the best of you!
To your success!
Teresa
