A close friend of mine recently told me that she admired me for always being consistent in my business even in the toughest of times. She asked me what it was that kept me moving forward no matter what because it's something she's struggled with when she gets *life bombs* thrown at her.
I really gave this some hard thought and tried to figure out exactly what it is that keeps me going no matter what.
Let's face it … we all have those times in our lives when we'd really like to just wrap ourselves in a blanket on the couch, check out and watch trash TV all day. Trust me, I've been there. I swear I've heard my favorite couch blanket whispering, “Hey you! Come here! Let's cuddle! It'll be fun!”. Damn that cozy little couch blanket!
So I started thinking about what I do and why I do it.
When those life bombs are incoming, if someone has scheduled an appointment with me, I don't miss it, and I don't reschedule it.
Since I build my business through social media, I'm committed to consistently posting valuable content to help my audience so that's what I do, no matter what.
I have so many people who have graciously joined my mailing list, and in a world where we get so much information thrown at us, I appreciate them so much for giving me time in their day. So every time I send out an email, my intention is that my subscribers get a tool or a message that will genuinely help them.
And then it just hit me … it's not actually about ME, it's about YOU!
My entire business is about helping people. I have a personal mission statement for my business that reads, “My mission is to let my light shine so that others might be guided and supported to create the life they've dreamed of.” And I am 100% committed to that mission. That's what keeps me going.
So the next time life is hucking those bombs that have you heading for the couch for cover, think about what your personal mission statement is for your business. And I'm not talking about the money … because you can make money in any old job.
You started your business for a reason. You probably started it because you felt passionate about making a difference. You know your business can make a huge difference in so many lives, so next time you're struggling … remember why you started your business.
Someone out there needs you and what you have to offer … don't let them down!
To your success!
